Çanakkale is full of fascinating views in every corner, with its historical importance and unspoiled natural beauties. It is a city that attracts attention with its touristic islands such as Bozcaada and Gökçeada, holiday destinations intertwined with culture and nature such as Gallipoli and Assos, and blue flag beaches. It is also an ideal stop for sea and nature lovers. You can explore many different spots in Çanakkale, from impressive historical treasures such as the Ancient City of Assos to national parks and magnificent monuments dedicated to the Battle of Gallipoli. Let's discover the most beautiful holiday places in Çanakkale.
1. Gökçeada
Turkey's largest island, Gökçeada, is ideal for those looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday in Çanakkale. It attracts attention with its natural beauties and untouched bays. It also attracts a lot of attention with its historical treasures. Its old name was Kaleköy. If you happen to be here, you can walk among the ruins of the centuries-old ancient castle and unwind by tasting fresh seafood in the small harbor right next to the castle.
It is home to many beautiful beaches and bays where you can enjoy the crystal clear sea. Aydıncık (Kefalos) Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island. It has a long and wide beach, and since it gets a lot of wind, it is a place preferred by those who are interested in surfing and sailing.
If you are looking for a quieter and calmer atmosphere like me, I recommend Laz Bay. It is a bay where you will love swimming with its untouched nature and clear water.Yıldız Bay, where you will feel like you are swimming in an aquarium and surrounded by fish, is also among my recommendations. Turkey's first and only underwater national park is located here. I recommend it to those looking for a different experience.
There are accommodation options for every taste in Gökçeada, from family hostels to boutique hotels, from nature hotels to camping areas. Let me also tell you about a few good camping places, both from my own experiences and from local people. Gökçeada Camping can be a logical choice as it is very close to the center of the island. Hidden Liman Camping Area is located in the southwest of the island and is generally a peaceful camping area.
Kefalos Camping Area, which is frequently recommended by Gökçeada residents, is a facility where you can enjoy the sea and nature on Aydıncık Beach.
You can also find camping areas where you can pitch a tent away from the crowds in Yıldız Bay and Laz Bay. If you want to be in touch with nature but cannot compromise on your comfort, Gökçeada is rich in bungalow options. Zeytinli Bungalow Houses is a facility among olive trees in the peaceful atmosphere of Zeytinli Village.
Let us also say that it is possible to find many quality nature hotels around Surf Inn, Liman Bay, Hidden Liman Bay, Marmaros Beach and Mavi Bay, right next to Kefalos Beach.
